hb Holzwerkstoffe has a new strategic investor.

30th June 2008 –  From July 1, 2008, the Klöpfer Group will take over the activities and assets of hb Holzwerkstoffe in Bremen, Cologne and Speyer. The previous owners were GHW AG, Bonn, and the managing partner Wolfgang Hattendorf. In taking this step, Klöpfer hopes to strengthen its business-to-business trade. The hb plants in Bremen, Cologne and Speyer will function as independent branches within the Klöpfer Group’s business unit for wood import. Wolfgang Hattendorf shall be continuing his previous activities with the same decision-making powers. Until now, Klöpfer supplied sawn timber in the business-to-business trade mainly via ICK Holzimport in Osterode and Bremen. Klöpfer operates a large overseas warehouse in Bremen. With hb, the expertise in the trade for boards is set to be added to the Group’s portfolio. The total turnover of the newly formed Group importing boards (hb) and sawn timber (ICK) is EUR 100 million. This merger will be of great benefit to the customers of hb Holzwerkstoffe and ICK Holzimport. In future, they will be able to reduce their stock holding and limit the risks associated with purchasing and evaluation more easily, while profiting from the purchasing advantages of Germany’s largest company in the timber trade.
